Eastern Woodland Indians

Cautious Travelers

Two companions are cautiously making their way through the frozen wilderness.  They were hunting, but were obviously unsuccessful and are now searching for shelter before night falls. One is intently watching for game or enemies while the other is selecting the safest path across the stream.  They are clothed in woolen leggings, cloth trade shirts and they are wrapped in their warmest matchcoats (basically a small woolen blanket trimmed with colorful silk ribbons).  The stream is ice cold and they are wearing smooth soled, deerskin moccasins, so they must be positive that each step is secure and won’t plunge them into the freezing water.
